The purpose of this project was to develop a study of the fonts Trajan, Bodoni and Futura. The first step was to choose one letter of each to analyse and understand its geometric shapes and constructive lines. We chose the upper case A of Trajan, the lower case u of Bodoni and the upper case S of Futura. For the following step we chose three other fonts, Times New Roman, Avenir and Helvetica, with the purpose of writing the word “microtipografia” in upper case and lower case with different tracking systems: tangent, null, constant, automatic and manual. Therefore we created a booklet with all the steps of the process and study of each letter and of the tracking systems. It is organised in a way that allows you to see the study of the three letters at the same time. This project also showed us the enormous potencial of this fonts, usually we search for different fonts and forget how capable are the ones that we already have.

Neste projeto foi-nos proposto o desenvolvimento de um estudo das fontes Trajan, Bodoni e Futura. A primeira etapa foi a escolha de uma letra de cada uma destas fontes com o objetivo de analisar e compreender as suas formas geométricas e linhas construtivas. As letras escolhidas foram o A maiúsculo da Trajan, o u minúsculo da Bodoni e o S maiúsculo da Futura. A segunda etapa consistiu na escolha de 3 fontes, no nosso caso Times New Roman, Avenir e Helvetica, para estudar os diferentes sistemas de crenagem (tangente, nulo, constante, automático e manual) utilizando a palavra "microtipografia" em minúsculas e em maiúsculas. Daí surgiu uma publicação com todas as etapas do processo do estudo de cada letra e do estudo dos sistemas de crenagem. Esta publicação está organizada num desdobrável em que é possível ver as diferentes fases do estudo das três letras em paralelo juntamente com o estudo dos sistemas de crenagem. Com este projeto apercebemo-nos do potencial destas fontes para futuros projetos pois, por vezes, procuramos encontrar outras diferentes quando temos todo este potencial ao nosso dispor.
